About Us

We’re Cindy and John and we’re about to start the next phase of our lives. We’re too young to call ourselves retired but fortunate enough to be able to quit our jobs and hit the road as full-time RVers. This all started a few years back when a trip to Yellowstone made us realize there was more to life than going to the office everyday so we could live in a big house, drive nice cars and enjoy all the other trappings of consumerism. We’ve sold our house, most of our stuff  and bought a 30′ Airstream and truck to pull it with. RVSue calls her tow vehicle the PTV or Perfect Tow Vehicle. We call ours the BAT Mobile aka Big Ass Truck. We haven’t come up with a name for the trailer yet.

We’ve never thought of ourselves as your typical RVer. A large Class A and RV Resorts are not our style.  We love the outdoors and are avid critter watchers. Most of our time will be spent in State/National parks and boondocking on BLM land and National Forests whenever possible. When we decided on this lifestyle, I sent an email and this photo to my sister in Chicago telling her we just bought a new RV and would be heading up to her house for Christmas. Her favorite movie is Chevy Chases’s Christmas Vacation. She was mortified at the idea but for some reason not fooled by the cheesy Photoshop’ing.

We don’t have kids but do have 2 dogs, Trixie and Eddie (T&E). Like most dogs, they love to travel. My last day of work is April 18 and we’ll be heading out the following Monday. Since we’re starting out from Florida, we’ll spend the first part of our trip on the east coast heading as far north as Newfoundland. After that, we’ll head west and who knows where next.

I don’t know much about Instagram but I do plan to look into it.

We had a Class B Pleasure Way / Mercedes Sprinter and loved it. There’s a lot to be said for being able to drive your living space. It was too small for us to full time in. We have admired the Class C RVs built on the Mercedes Sprinter. They have slide outs and look to have lots more room than our Class B. We talked to a guy in the campground who owned one and he got 12 mpg in his Sprinter Class C towing a small car. It’s definitely something we’d consider. To us, there’s a mystique, lifestyle and reputation that goes with owning an Airstream. If we were simply looking for comfort and practicality, there are better options than an Airstream.

Thanks and I agree on the mystique and lifestyle and the community that surrounds an airstream. We had a class A and it was too big for what we did and downsized to the Class C 30′ towing a Honda Element.

        Safe travels

I am in the process of building a website for a concert series held here in Los Alamos at Fuller Lodge. I’m wondering if you mind if I use your photos of the lodge on my website. I think they will do an excellent job conveying to prospective artists and their managers what the lodge offers.
    Enjoyed browsing your site!

I really enjoy your photography so was glad to see another post. However I can’t help but wonder what happened to Trixie. Did I miss a post?

You’re so sweet to ask about Trixie. She had some health problems over that year and we had to say goodbye to her while in Colorado this past May. It was one of the reasons why I haven’t posted in a long time. Thanks again for asking.
